Calvary Chapel Bismarck

Pastor Phil Summa

Pastor Phil Summa joined us from Calvary Chapel in Nampa, ID, where he initially served as a Sunday school teacher for 4th and 5th graders before taking on the role of Kids Program Director. In the mid-1980s, he attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. He also served as an Assistant Pastor at Great Plains Christian Fellowship, a Calvary Chapel affiliate. Phil later answered a call to New Song Church in Bismarck, ND, where he again directed the Kids Program. In 2009, he planted Calvary Chapel Bismarck Mandan, guided by the Lord’s timing.

In 2019, he married his wonderful wife, Sandy, and they have, Jacob, who is currently in high school. Phil’s life verse is Nahum 1:7: “The Lord is good, a stronghold in trouble, and knows those who trust in Him.”

Amanda Makuk • Children’s Ministry

I began attending Calvary Chapel in 2008. I started with the Coffee Ministry, moved to the Bookstore Ministry, and now I oversee the Children’s Ministry. My favorite verse is Matthew 19:13-14: “Then little children were brought to Him so He could lay His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.'”

Mary Lou Fluto • Secretary

Mary Lou Fluto became a member of Calvary Chapel BisMan in 2011, having previously attended Calvary Chapel Nampa in Idaho and Calvary Chapel Fargo in North Dakota. She accepted Jesus as her Savior on July 11, 2000, during a non-denominational Sunday service, which led her to quit drinking alcohol. After returning to Nampa, she explored the Yellow Pages and found a non-denominational church that focused on biblical teachings. There, she engaged in Sunday services, women’s Bible studies, teas, retreats, and a Pure Word recovery group, also contributing to children’s ministry, ultimately finding her spiritual home at Calvary Chapel Nampa.

On July 22, 2024, Mary Lou married Craig in a ceremony officiated by Pastor Rich Wight at Calvary Chapel Nampa. In 2009, she moved back to North Dakota to join Craig in Fargo, drawn by the thriving economy and abundant job opportunities, as well as God’s calling for them to care for their parents. In May 2011, they relocated to Bismarck, where Mary Lou began attending Calvary Chapel Bismarck Mandan and was invited by Phil to assist with church administration and bookkeeping.

Her life verse is Philippians 4:6: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”
